The Special Investigative Unit of RJN Investigations, Inc. was recently notified by the U.S. Attorney’s Office regarding the successful prosecution on the case of Luis Perez, Owner of Baron HR, and several other staffing subsidiaries. During the investigation, it was established that rather than paying payroll taxes owed to the Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Perez purchased luxury items to include a $340,000.00 Lamborghini, a $224,000.00 Rolls Royce, a private jet, a yacht and a 10,000 square foot home. As part of the plea bargain, in the Federal Case, Mr. Perez was sentenced to eight years in Federal Prison and ordered to pay back the IRS $30,000,000.00 in restitution. The Orange County District Attorney’s office workers’ compensation fraud case against Mr. Prez is still in criminal court. In the formal referral filed by the RJN SIU it revealed that Mr. Perez continued to operate the Baron HR staffing company without a valid workers’ compensation policy. When claims did come in, he diverted them to another one of his associated companies that did have insurance coverage. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office has filed 15 felony counts against Mr. Perez and his next scheduled criminal hearing in Superior Court is set for July 30th, 2025.
