Founder and President
Mr. Nagle founded RJN Investigations in 1987 to specialize in insurance defense level investigations. In 1994, he established the RJN SIU Division to assist small and mid-sized insurance firms as well as self-insured clients in developing a proactive approach to workers’ compensation fraud. This division has formally referred over 3500 cases to the California Department of Insurance Fraud Unit and various District Attorneys’ offices throughout California. These referrals have resulted in over 195 convictions for insurance fraud and in excess of $7,000,000 in court ordered restitution.
Mr. Nagle has been the guest speaker for The Southern California Fraud Investigators Association, Hearing Representatives Association of California, The California Association of Licensed Investigators, The American Society of Safety Engineers, The Insurance Educational Association, The Alliance of Schools for Cooperative Insurance Programs (ASCIP), The California Joint Powers Insurance Authority (CJPIA), The Council of Self-Insured Public Agencies(COSIPA), The California Association of School Business Officials (CASBO), and the “We-TIP” National Conference. He has also conducted in-house fraud training for Travelers Insurance, Golden Eagle Insurance, York Insurance Services, The Vons Companies, Berkshire Hathaway, Sysco Food Corporation, Springfield, Crum & Forster, Everest National, AIG Insurance Companies and various Public Entities throughout California. Mr. Nagle is an active member of the National Council of Investigation and Security Services, The American Society for Industrial Security, The California Association of Licensed Investigators, The Southern California Fraud Investigators Association, and The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Fred came to us after 25 years as a California law enforcement professional where he served both locally and statewide as a patrol officer, investigator, field training officer, and watch commander for the Laguna Beach Police Department. Fred earned college degrees in Criminal Justice and Personnel Management, along with a State of California teaching credential. He is a licensed Private Investigator in several states. Fred works with the President to insure all departments have the necessary tools to meet company goals and objectives, and exceed client expectations. He is responsible for the administration of all departments including company financial programs, Human Resources, Risk Management, training, licensing, insurance, IT, facility management, equipment, supplies and support to senior staff and managers of business operations.
Surveillance Director since 1997, Mike started with the company in 1996 as an AOE/COE investigator. His prior experience in retail and corporate investigations provided a solid foundation to manage our surveillance department. Born and raised in Hawaii, Mike has also served in the US Army, Military Police. He earned his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice/ Law Enforcement from the New Mexico Military Institute and his Bachelor’s Degree from California State University – Hayward (now CSU East Bay). Mike is a licensed Private Investigator in California and Hawaii. As the Surveillance Director for RJN Investigations, Mike’s role is to ensure the proper training of investigators and compliance to company and client policies. He directs the scheduling of assignments based on client instructions in addition to managing case managers who assist in running a team of field investigators. Field investigators and case managers work together to develop pre-surveillance data, investigative strategies, and recommendations to advance our cases. Case managers are also responsible for monitoring daily operations 365 days a year, reviewing results for quality assurance, and communicating recommendations to clients to achieve maximum success.
Manager, Background Investigations Unit
Manager of the Background Department for RJN Investigations since 1999, Mark joined our firm after a career in law enforcement on both the Federal and County levels. Prior to joining RJN, Mark gained valuable investigative experience as a Special Agent with the FBI. Prior to that, Mark was a Deputy with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department where he was assigned to the County Regional Training Facility as the Corrections Academy Training Coordinator and Academy Training Officer. Mark has also worked as a Police Officer and a certified Firefighter.
Vice President of Business Development
VP since 2007, Mr. Gomez came to RJN with over 20 years of experience in the Insurance industry. He is the former Vice President - Western Region of GlobalOptions, Inc., a National Investigation Company. During his tenure at GlobalOptions, he was responsible for the operation of three offices and over 75 investigators throughout the Western US. Prior to this, he directed the Western Region of Confidential Business Resources, formerly Gallagher Bassett Investigative Services, which was sold to GlobalOptions in 2005. He played a major role in establishing a National SIU unit for a major TPA. Mr. Gomez has been a guest speaker at numerous national and local conferences on Fraud and SIU topics. Mr. Gomez has a BA in Business Administration from Whittier College and is a licensed Private Investigator in California and Texas.
