On July 14th, 2025, the Special Investigative Unit of RJN Investigations, Inc. was notified that the Orange County District Attorney’s Office has filed felony insurance fraud charges based, in part, upon a documented referral submitted by RJN SIU to their office. While there have been multiple examples of suspected “capping” involving the Law Firm, this case was initiated in 2020 at the height of the Covid 19 pandemic when an employer was forced to close their doors effectively laying off all their employees. Every employee that was laid off signed documents indicating that they had no injuries to report. However, after being laid off, a total of 45 claimants all became represented by a group of Attorneys, with similar complaints and it was determined that a specific call center was being used based on statements from individuals who did not file Post Termination CT Claims. After a lengthy investigation, RJN SIU was notified that 23 felony charges were filed against a Law Firm as well as the “Call Center” and it is anticipated that more charges are pending against the additional firms involved. Both criminally charged Attorneys entered in a plea of not guilty and the next scheduled criminal hearings are set to occur on 07/15/2025.
