On September 1st, 2026, the Special Investigative Unit of RJN Investigations, Inc. was notified that the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office was successful in prosecuting the claimant who was found to be working at a construction site while also collecting Temporary Total Disability Payments from the insured. During the course of a subsequent AOE/COE investigation, the claimant denied working anywhere since his date of injury. Based on the statement, combined with the surveillance footage, the case was submitted to both the Riverside County District Attorney and California Department of Insurance Fraud Division. The claimant was arrested, notified of his charges and arraigned. Over the course of several months of hearings, the claimant would accept a plea deal in which he was ordered to pay $10,000.00 “upfront” in court ordered restitution. As part of the plea deal, the claimant was ordered to repay the remaining balance before June of 2027 (amount to be determined at that time.)
